ALO with Hayley Sales

James invited us out to last Tuesday to check out at ALO at Lucky Bar. We didn't know anything about the band, but James was familiar with them from his Santa Cruz days. ALO opened for Jack Johnson at a number of his recent shows and the music they played was similar in attitude, but with more freedom for the individual musicians to show off.

Hayley Sales was the first act and she was mostly harmless. She seemed like a nice girl and her songs were the sweet kind of music you might enjoy on a summer's day, but it wasn't going to send us hustling to the record store.

Hayley Sales.

It didn't take ALO long to get the crowd into things. A jamming number they called the Roses and Clover song got the band and everyone else loose. Their radio single "Girl I Wanna Lay You Down" was a big hit with many of the females joining in and crooning along. We only caught about half the show, it was a late start by Victoria standards and it was a school night, which is a shame because these guys were rockin' it.

This moustache was worth the price of admission.

Frontman Zach Gill.

One more note, that these guys sounded so good was incredible, because the sound at Lucky Bar is terrible. Time to get some new speakers.
