Charlotte's Web goes Synchro

A couple of weeks ago I had my first skating competition of the season. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I was looking forward to it. The competition was in Langley, so Friday night we caught the ferry to the mainland and prepared for a weekend of skating.

Dress rehearsal before the competition. We love these dresses!

On the ferry, piling into the 15-person van.

Saturday morning we headed to the rink for our 10 minute practice, which turned out to be one of the worst practices we ever had! In those 10 minutes, we managed more falls and more bruises than we had all season. Luckily, bruises were the worst of the injuries, so we were all still pumped for our skate later that day.

We headed back to the hotel to get dolled up for the competition. We are skating to music from Charlotte's Web, so to go with our pretty yellow dresses, we had spiders in our hair and a spider tattoo on our shoulder. Oh, and don't forget the fake eye lashes. Gotta love a sport that requires you to wear fake eye lashes :).

Our first skate was much better than our practice earlier in the day. We only had one fall, which wouldn't have been too bad, except for the cast that resulted from the fall. Yup, one of our team members headed to the hospital after our skate and returned with her right wrist in a cast. We are still waiting to find out if it really is broken or not. But, she was a trooper and finished out the competition.

Our skate on Sunday was much better and we finished the competition with a silver medal. And honestly, we were pretty pumped with our silver and happy with how we skated.
