The Fuck Buttons?

James invited us out to catch Caribou's tour stop in Victoria. While Caribou put on a solid show they were upstaged by a crazy and bizarre opening act - The Fuck Buttons.

The F.B.s are a couple of dudes from England with a variety of noise-making synthesizers and sound machines. Here is a quick and distorted sample, turn down your audio.

I guess you'll have to take my word that they were pretty awesome and totally unexpected, I'd never heard of them before. It's tough for two guys pushing buttons and twiddling knobs to put on a good show, but the Fuck Buttons were full of thrashing energy.

The other great thing about them is their name, which led a fairly amusing exchange with my parents on the phone.

Parents: Who?
Cam: The Fuck Buttons.
P: What?
C: The Fuck Buttons.
P: Spell it for us.
C: F-U-C-K-B-U-T-T-O-N-S
P: The Fuck Buttons?
C: Yeah, the Fuck Buttons.

Caribou was good too, their drummer was awesome and really carried them for a few stretches. We didn't survive until the end of the set having been exhausted by the relentlessness of the Fuck Buttons.
